Week 5: Hobby Homes

Hobby Homes

Hello, Everyone!

This Week, I wanted to have a few models painted as concepts for the finished product. However, when I pulled out my collection of model paints, I realized I was lacking some of the paint I needed. So, for this week, I decided to take a trip to the hobby stores I frequent, and tell you all a little about them.

Zeeks Comics and Games

Anyone who knows me has probably seen me sporting my infamous Zeeks hat. Zeeks is my go-to Game Store, and I have been going here since my Freshman year of college. Zeeks is located in the Cherry Tree shopping center in Washington Illinois, next to the Kroger. Zeeks has a lively community with different games taking place every day of the week. Zeeks has a great selection of Comics, Games, Models, and Paints for many different hobby needs.

Just For Fun

I discovered Just For Fun last year, and I recommend it highly to anyone in Peoria wanting to get into Tabletop Games. Located on the corner of Sterling and W. Forest Hill Ave., Just For Fun has a massive selection of both Wargaming and Roleplaying Games. The selection of paints is a little limited, but the wide variety of games more than makes up for it.

I highly recommend that even if you aren't into tabletop games, you check out these stores. They are locally owned and have friendly communities. I purchased everything I need for getting some test models ready by next week, so check back then to see my progress with the models

  1. I've never been to either of these places, but I have been to Cabbages and Kings, which has a used board game sale either annually or twice annually. My family got Terraforming Mars and one of the expansions for it at the used board game sale. I also recently learned from a family friend that they also rent board games, and we had a great discussion about how many times you'd have to play a game before it became worthwhile to buy it instead of renting it. I don't know if they have a lot of stuff for wargaming and such though, I'm mostly related to board game people.

    1. I haven't heard of Cabbages and Kings before, I'll have to check it out sometime. Renting board games is a great option for people who don't play games too regularly, I'm not sure why stores I go too don't offer that.

  2. ooohhh niche game store. My brother showed me this one store sorta near Chicago called Disc Replay, It was a small store that had a bunch of retro cds, movies and games. They had games for pretty much every console generation so that was neat to see. They also had a pair of the DK Bongos for the GameCube, so you know I had to get those as soon as I saw it. I also remember seeing at the store a physical copy of Klonoa 2, and I really should've picked that up when I saw it, Klonoa is such a good series.
